Here at Hoo Headquarters, we have a special spot in our hearts for our four legged friends! Our resident office dog – Ms. Lulu, can usually be found taking a nap under one of our desks or begging the delivery man for a treat! And when our employees bring their pups in for the day, sometimes the office becomes a total bark fest!
But we know not all dogs are as lucky (or spoiled!) so we are proud to be a sponsor of the 3rd Annual Pedaling for Pups. P4P is a recreational bike ride to benefit homeless dogs at PC Pound Puppies in New Harmony, Indiana. All proceeds benefit the non-profit, no kill organization that helps to improve the lives of stray and homeless dogs in the area. Some of the services provided include spay/neutering, vaccinating, micro-chipping and more! The event is expecting over 200 riders on Saturday, September 20 in conjunction with the German festival, Kunstfest.

Approximately every four minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with blood cancer. Blood cancer is the most common type of cancer in children and young adults under the age of 20.
September is blood cancer awareness month and The Hoo team has partnered up with the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society (LLS) to sponsor the Pineapple Classic 5k. The LLS exists to find cures for blood cancer and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The Hawaiian themed run includes obstacles, costumes and a beer garden so participants have fun, get dirty and help in the fight to beat cancer. Sounds like our kind of party!
To join us in the fight against cancer – visit www.llc.org to find out how you donate or participate in an event.

Here at the Hoo, we make it a point to give back to the community whenever we are able. Throughout the year, we make product donations to organizations and events that are contributing to the greater good in the world. A great example of this kind of organization is Camp Trillium out of Ontario, Canada. Camp Trillium offers year-round recreational experiences for children with cancer and their families. The programs range from traditional summer camps to weekend camps through-out the year to leadership development programs for teens and more! The 30-year old organization provides children with cancer , and their families, an opportunity to bond with others going through the same experiences – all in a fun and uplifting environment!
All programs are free to the families and funded by donations. To learn more about Camp Trillium or to make a donation – please visit www.camptrillium.com.
Illinois’ SanJa Photography contacted us with an amazing idea they had to help and bring awareness to their local homeless community. The team of volunteers got together and took to the vast streets of the city in the dead heat of July. They handed out Hoo-rags that would help keep cool those that may not always have the luxury of air conditioning. SanJa Photography was on hand to capture the day’s events and show the world that one man’s idea can put a smile on a city’s face.

The Desert Knights of America Motorcycle Club, Southern MD. Chapter hosted their Summer Party fundraiser on July 26, 2014 to help raise funds for the Fisher House Foundation. The Desert Knights of America MC is a traditional Motorcycle Club with a focus on veterans’ issues and the improvement of the condition of the American military veteran. During the MC’s 2014 Summer Party, giveaways and raffles will be held to help raise money for the Fisher House Foundation – Hoo-Rag was pleased to help support the cause by donating bandanas for the event raffle. For more information on the Desert Knights of America Motorcycle Club, please visit www.desertknightsmc.com.
What exactly is the Fisher House Foundation? The Fisher House program is a unique private/public partnership that supports America’s military members and their families in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs (VA). To read more about the Fisher House Foundation, please visit www.fisherhouse.org.

Who is Chase Warren? Chase was born on October 1, 2012 as what appeared to be a healthy baby boy but this joyous story for two proud parents quickly became a heartwrenching tragedy. Over the next ten months, the Warren family watched baby Chase get progressively more sick while no doctors could explain the cause of his symptoms. Chase Warren passed away on August 7, 2013 while surrounded by family members – two days later the Warren family received their son’s diagnosis which was the fatal and untreatable, Gaucher Type 2.
The Warren family has created the ChaseN’Tailz fishing tournament in memory of their son and to spread awareness and raise funds for rare diseases such as Gaucher Type 2 – all proceeds will be donated to the National Gaucher Foundation.
Support for the Warren’s tragic story has been overwhelming with local businesses sponsoring the event. Hoo-Rag cannot express how honored we are to donate Hoo-Rags for the captain’s bags and the prizes/raffles that will be held during the fishing tournament.
Creativity is the driving force behind Hoo-Rag’s unique bandana designs and we take great pride in every single one. Ecstatic is an understatement when it comes to how we felt the first time we encountered @Puuurrr on Instagram. Alina had taken inspiration from our Skull Daddy and The Walker Hoo-Rags to create face paintings that were nothing short of phenomenal – she has quickly become one of our favorite Hooligans!
Remember to show off how you rock the rag by using #hoorag on all social media platforms.
